Checklists For Your Pool Opening

As winter comes to an end and the weather begins to warm up, many pool owners are eagerly anticipating the start of the swimming season. But before you can dive into your pool, there are some important steps you need to take to get it ready for use.


To make sure your pool opening goes smoothly and you're fully prepared for a season of fun in the sun, there are several must-have items you'll need to have on hand. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at these essential tools and supplies and provide some helpful tips to help you get your pool in tip-top shape for spring.


Needed On Hand:

These are the items and chemicals you will need for the opening of your pool.

  • Sequa Sol & Algimycin 2000 or Regal Poly-Algaecide 30 & Metal Out

  • Liquid Chlorine 12.5% or Granular Chlorine

  • 3" Chlorine Tablets

  • Clarifier (try our favorite Chitosan Clarifier)

  • Wipe Out (or any all-purpose surface cleaner)

  • Skimmer Socks

  • Test Strips

Tip: Every year we have an Early Buy Chemical say in March where you can stock up and save of the chemicals you need for the season!



Check Condition Of:

These are the things you should check the condition of before taking off your cover and starting up your system.

  • Backwash Hose

  • Cartridge Filters

  • Brush, Net & Pole

  • Vac Heads, Plate & Hose

  • Baskets

  • Pressure Gauges

  • Orings

Tip: Go ahead and check the condition of your drain plugs on your equipment as well.

  • Automatic Cover Pump

  • VGB Compliant Drain Cover

  • VGB Compliant Suction Fittings
